France is planning to purchase MI-26 Russian transport helicopters
According to the report of Alexej Samusenko, Chief Designer of Mil Moscow Helicopter Plant JSC, dated 3 May 2008, in a few month France is planning to make a decision whether to purchase MI-26 Russian transport helicopters for AF or not.
"The issue of helicopter crocurement is under consederation of French Government and Ministry of Defence at the moment", said Mr. Samusenko.
He also specified that in case of affirmative reply, Russian MI-26 Helicopters will be modified with French equipment in order to meet the Customer's requirements.
Chief Designer of Mil Moscow Helicopter Plant, JSC reminded of MI-26 potential that was demonstrated to the French side in November 2007 at Ister military base near Marseille (France). He pointed out that " the final stage of demonstration had been visited by French generals who had even participated in demonstration flights".
