Helicopter Ansat to become main training helicopter for AF by 2010

Ansat will become a main training helicopter for AF by 2010 after the completion of state joint tests and experimental operation of it in the army, head of the AF army aviation department major general Viktor Ivanov told reporters on Tuesday.

 

The decision on that has been taken by the Defense Ministry leadership back in 2001, the general noted. The testing of Ansat will last a year and half or two years in order to receive the training helicopter. During this period of time it has yet to be duly prepared for training purposes.

The general also specified that at present helicopter Mi-2 is used for training pilots at the Syzran high military school.

There is an initial need for some 25-30 Ansat machines in the AF units. Then their quantity will increase, said the general.

According to the general, beside the Ansat helicopter a helicopter Kasatka (Ê-60) is also planed to be used as a trainer helicopter which currently has been undergoing flying tests, RIA Novosti reported.

The light multi-functional helivopter Ansat with a carrying capacity of 1 -1,3 t, Maximum takeoff weight of 3,3 t and seating capacity of up to 9 people was developed by the Design Bureau AO KVZ with the involvement of some other organizations and enterprises traditionally engaged in the design of aircraft.
